Jon Miyahara, known for his recurring role as the stoic, mostly silent Cloud 9 employee Brett Kobashigawa on the NBC sitcom Superstore, has died at the age of 83. His death was confirmed on Instagram by co-star Colton Dunn, though no cause or specific date of death was provided.

Miyahara appeared in all but eight of the series' 113 episodes across its six-season run from 2015 to 2021. His character was renowned for delivering deadpan stares and rarely speaking, with his only notable line—"Oh, shit"—uttered during a tornado episode in Season 2. The tornado storyline also gave him a memorable arc where colleagues mistakenly believed he had been killed, only for him to return to work unharmed in Season 3.

Born Jonathan Yasushi Miyahara on August 8, 1941, in Los Angeles, he briefly reprised the role of Brett in a cameo on NBC's American Auto, also created by Superstore creator Justin Spitzer. He had no other major acting credits.

Dunn described Miyahara as "a really awesome guy" who "could speak volumes with just a look." Other Superstore cast members, including Kelly Stables, Irene White, and Michael Bunin, also paid tribute on social media, remembering him as sweet and kind.
