Coronation Street star Sue Devaney has sent a sweet message to her young co-star Kyran Bowes after he praised her as a "brilliant actress" in a social media post.
Co-star tribute on Instagram
Bowes, who plays Debbie's on-screen nephew Jack Webster, shared a smiling selfie of the pair on the Rovers Return set, which was decorated for a birthday celebration. In the caption, he wrote: "She's just the best person inside & out @suedevaney13 always making us laugh & and I'm so glad to work alongside such an amazing actress #coronationstreet #friendsforlife."
Devaney, who plays hotel owner Debbie Webster, commented: "You too kind nephew dearest! Didn't we have such a smashing couple of days! See you soon for more fun and laughter."
Fan reactions
Fans quickly joined in praising the actress. @xjeankellyx called it a "beautiful picture," while @davecunningham187 said: "She is a brilliant actress." @sunshinechaser121 added: "This is so sweet."
Dementia storyline
Devaney, from Ashton-under-Lyne, first played Debbie Webster more than three decades ago when she was 16. With a dementia storyline unfolding on-screen, fans have been left heartbroken at the thought of losing the character. However, speaking on ITV's Lorraine last year, Devaney confirmed: "She's not going anywhere yet! I know the story is going to go on well into 2027."
