Strictly's Will Best welcomes baby boy named Sonny

Strictly Come Dancing contestant Will Best has welcomed his first child, a baby boy named Sonny Best, with fiancée Tobi Rose. The 41-year-old TV presenter shared the news on Instagram on Thursday, posting a video in which he cradled the newborn.

In the video, Will said: "So I got this really cool new thing today, lots of people get them but they are pretty cool," before panning the camera down to show the baby in his arms. In the caption, he wrote: "Well who do we have here then?! Welcome to the world Sonny Best, you little smasher. @tobiroseofficial you’re a miracle and I love you so much. A couple of tired new parents (see last slide) but oh my goodness aren’t we lucky xxx"

Celebrity congratulations pour in

Will's Strictly partner Dianne Buswell was among the first to congratulate the couple, writing: "yay, I'm so happy for you and Tob. And Bowie is so excited to meet little sonny." Former X Factor star Fleur East added: "Aww yayy!! Welcome Sonny Besty! So excited for you. Congratulations to you and Tobi. Hope you're all doing well. Go and smash it on that ballroom floor for your little family."

Strictly host Josh Widdicombe said: "Holy moly!!! Congratulations, mate!" while Strictly pro Amy Dowden wrote: "Massive congratulations," followed by blue heart emojis.

Pregnancy announcement and engagement

The news comes less than a month after Will revealed he and Tobi were expecting. In mid-September, he shared summer photos, including one of the couple in front of a mirror with Tobi showing her baby bump and Will's hand on her stomach. He captioned the post: "Baby, Will?!" and added a pink heart emoji, with a final picture of teddy bear-style baby shoes.

Will and Tobi have been engaged since 2024, after getting engaged during a trip to Tuscany. They are thought to have met around 2011. A source told The Sun: "Will and Tobi are overjoyed and he can’t wait to become a dad. He already had a busy winter juggling Strictly and Big Brother, but now it’s got a whole lot more complicated." Tobi's due date was before Christmas, and Will is expected to discuss the happy news on Saturday's Strictly show.
