Strictly Come Dancing star Lacey Turner has left her professional dance partner 'floored' during their rehearsal. The BBC competition officially kicked off with the first live show on Saturday (September 26), and EastEnders actress Lacey and dance partner Vito Coppola impressed with their cha-cha-cha to Whitney Houston's track 'How Will I Know?'.
The pair bagged the series' first standing ovation and earned a combined total of 27 points from the judges. Following Lacey and Vito's success, they returned to rehearsals on Monday (September 28) to prepare for their second routine and the show's first elimination.
Vito's Reaction to the Crisp Sandwich
However, during a well-deserved lunch break, Vito was left stumped as Lacey put crisps in her sandwich. Sharing the revelation to his Instagram Story, Vito filmed Lacey making her lunch, and he could be heard saying: "Well, we've got our lunch break, and is this something I cannot...."
As the camera panned to Lacey she confirmed, "I'm so happy right now," as she emptied a bag of crisps onto her plate. "The crisps are with the sandwich," Italian dancer Vito pointed out.
As Lacey picked up her sandwich she explained, "You need to put them in", prompting Vito to ask: "No, you put the crisps in the sandwich?"
"Yes and then you get a crunch", Lacey replied. Sounding confused, Vito asked, "Why is that? I don't think you're allowed to do that. Is this an English thing?"
While looking at his own sandwich, Vito added, "I will stick with this, it doesn't exist, a crisp sandwich," as Lacey laughed, "You haven't lived."
Leaderboard Positions and New Hosts
As none of the 15 celebrities were eliminated from the competition on Saturday, their scores will roll over to next week's leaderboard. Lacey and Vito are currently in third position with a score of 27.
Topping the leaderboard are YouTuber John Nellis and Katya Jones with 31 points, while Australian singer Delta Goodrem and dance partner Kai Widdrington are in second place with 29 points.
Gavin and Stacey icon Melanie Walters and Aljaz Skorjanec remain at the bottom with 15 points. The first live show of the series also marked the debuts of new hosts Emma Willis, Josh Widdicombe and former pro-dancer Johannes Radebe.
Although they had been seen a week earlier in the launch show, that had been pre-recorded so it was the first time they hosted in front of millions of viewers looking on from home. Strictly Come Dancing airs Saturday at 6:15pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
