Strictly Come Dancing host Josh Widdicombe was hit by an angry passenger during a flight from Greece to the UK after a family holiday. The comedian recounted the incident on the Parenting Hell podcast.
Seat row escalates
Josh explained that while waiting for the toilet, he perched on the arm of an empty seat and put his foot on the corner of the seat to tie his shoe. The woman next to him said, 'excuse me, that's my husband's seat'. He apologised but she continued telling him off.
When the husband returned from the toilet, he hit Josh in the back as he passed. Josh said: 'You know like Richard Ashcroft in that Urban Hymns video, like a footballer off the ball and then he goes past me and goes 'did you put your foot on my seat?' He was getting napkins to wipe down his seat.'
Aftermath
Josh could only apologise. The air steward checked on the man and later confided in Josh, saying 'there's one on every flight isn't there?' Josh chatted with the steward and later a fan approached him. He said: 'At that point a woman comes up and says she's a fan of me and I think 'this is glorious'.'
Later, when Josh went to the toilet again, the woman was still staring. An hour later, the stewards said the man was still cleaning the seat with his napkin. Josh summed up: 'He might be germophobic I suppose. Honestly, at the end, I was worried he was going to confront me, it was weird.'
