Strictly Come Dancing stars Helen Skelton and Gorka Marquez have ended their social media silence, reassuring fans they have been 'concentrating on the dance' ahead of the BBC 100 special. The pair, who were absent from social media for three days, posted a video on Gorka's Instagram stories showing them taking a break from rehearsals.
In the video, a tired-looking Helen sat in the background while Gorka said: 'Wednesday update. We have been missing for three days.' Helen interjected: 'We have been concentrating.' When asked about her feelings towards the dance, Helen's face lit up, saying she was 'very happy about the music'.
The couple will perform a Charleston to the Blue Peter theme tune, a show Helen presented from 2008 to 2013. Gorka joked that Helen was 'living her best life' with the choice. Helen expressed excitement for Saturday's show, and Gorka confirmed they were ready to take to the ballroom floor again.
Helen and Gorka have consistently scored in the high twenties and low thirties, placing them in the middle of the leaderboard. Last week, they scored 29 out of 30 for their Pasodoble, ranking 10th out of 13 couples. Despite not topping the leaderboard, Helen has received praise for her involvement, especially given her recent personal challenges.
Helen recently spoke on ITV's Lorraine about balancing work and personal life, admitting she struggles and often lumps work into 'me time'. She advised lowering standards and delegating tasks. This comes after news that her ex-husband Richie Myler is expecting a baby with his new partner, six months after their split was announced.
