Strictly Come Dancing professional dancer Alexis Warr has announced her separation from husband Jake Burton after eight years of marriage.
Announcement of Separation
The 26-year-old American dancer, who married Burton in 2018 after being childhood sweethearts, shared the news in a joint statement on social media. She apologized for being "MIA" and described the decision as made "with the greatest respect for each other."
"After much consideration and with the greatest respect for each other, Jake and I have made the decision to separate," she wrote. "Whilst this hasn't been an easy decision, it has been reached with a huge amount of love and we're each other's biggest cheerleaders."
Burton, a dentist, also posted the same statement on his Instagram account. The couple requested privacy as they navigate the remainder of their "life change."
Alexis Warr's Career Journey
Warr joined the BBC show's roster in 2025 alongside fellow newcomer Julian Caillon. Originally from Utah, she became the first Latin and ballroom dancer to win So You Think You Can Dance in 2022, dedicating her victory to her mother who had battled brain cancer.
Before Strictly, she worked as a dancer on America's Got Talent and was recruited by Dancing With The Stars as a troupe member. In 2024, she appeared in JoJo Siwa's music video for "Karma."
Strictly Come Dancing Performance
Since joining Strictly, Warr was paired with TikTok star George Clarke, finishing as runners-up in series 23 in 2025. In November, she publicly celebrated her husband's dental exam success, calling herself a "proud wifey."
Fans had described the couple as a "power couple" at the time. The pair had been together since their teenage years, marrying in 2018.
