Former Strictly Star's Son Suffers Severe Finger Injury in Playtime Accident

Erin Boag, the former Strictly Come Dancing professional who graced the BBC show until 2012, has shared a harrowing account of her son's recent accident. Her 11-year-old son, Ewan, severed his finger in a door while playing with friends, prompting an urgent dash to the hospital.

Emergency Response and Medical Intervention

The incident occurred two weeks ago, with Ewan sustaining a complete severance of his middle finger on his left hand. In a video posted to her Instagram, Erin, dressed in a pink t-shirt and baseball cap, described the injury in detail. "When I say severed, I mean severed. Flesh, bone, fingernail - the whole lot," she explained. The family rushed to Kingston Hospital's Accident and Emergency department for immediate care.

Following initial treatment, Ewan was referred to St. George's Hospital in London, specifically to the paediatric plastic surgery department. There, medical professionals performed an operation that successfully saved his finger, which was then bandaged up. Erin expressed immense gratitude towards the NHS staff, stating, "Thank you to all the staff there that we dealt with, you know, from reception to nurses to doctors to the plastic surgeons."

Outpouring of Support and Family Connections

The news sparked a flood of well-wishes from Erin's followers on social media. Comments included messages of shock and support, with one user writing, "Omg Erin I’m so sorry to hear this happened to Ewan. What a shock for you all. I hope he heals quickly," while another praised the NHS for the positive outcome.

Erin, a fan-favourite during her eight-year stint on Strictly, danced with celebrities such as Colin Jackson, Richard Arnold, and Julian Clary. Outside the show, she is professionally partnered with Anton Du Beke, now a judge on the programme. Anton serves as Ewan's godfather, and Erin is the godmother to Anton's daughter, Henrietta. In a previous interview with Hello magazine, Erin noted, "He's a very good godfather, Uncle Anton. It's nice because the children are really good friends."

The accident highlights the unpredictable nature of childhood injuries and the critical role of emergency medical services. Erin's openness about the experience has resonated with many, underscoring the importance of swift medical intervention in traumatic situations.
