Strictly stars Janette and Aljaž welcome baby girl

Strictly Come Dancing favourites Janette Manrara and Aljaž Škorjanec have shared their joyous news with fans – the couple have welcomed their first child, a beautiful baby girl named Lyra Rose.

The loved-up duo, who met on the hit BBC show, announced the arrival of their little one in a heartwarming Instagram post. Janette, 40, and Aljaž, 34, shared an adorable black-and-white photo of them cradling their newborn's tiny hand.

A Dream Come True

The professional dancers, who married in 2017, had been open about their fertility journey before falling pregnant. Their announcement has been met with an outpouring of love from Strictly colleagues and fans alike.

"Our beautiful daughter, Lyra Rose Škorjanec, has arrived and we are completely in love," the proud parents wrote. "She's absolutely stolen our hearts and we can't wait for this new adventure as a family of three."

Strictly Family Celebrates

Fellow Strictly stars were quick to congratulate the couple, with many joking that little Lyra would no doubt inherit her parents' dancing genes. The couple met when they joined Strictly in 2013 and became fan favourites before Aljaž left the show in 2021.

Janette continues to be a key part of the Strictly family, having moved from the dancefloor to presenting spin-off show It Takes Two before taking over as host of Strictly: The Professionals.

What's Next for the Dancing Duo?

While the couple haven't revealed their plans for returning to work, fans are already speculating whether we'll see baby Lyra making her Strictly debut in a future Christmas special. For now, the new parents are enjoying every precious moment with their bundle of joy.

"We're so grateful for all the love and support," the couple added. "This is the greatest role we'll ever have - being Lyra's mummy and daddy."
