Strictly Come Dancing professionals Amy Dowden and Carlos Gu are the latest stars to join the line-up of Celebrity Gogglebox. The duo, best known for their roles on the hit BBC dancing competition, recently embarked on a UK tour together called Amy & Carlos: Reborn.
Amy Dowden's Return to TV After Cancer Treatment
Dowden, 35, has been a Strictly professional dancer since 2017, but took a break from the show after being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2023 to undergo treatment including chemotherapy and two mastectomies. The Welsh dancer made a full return to the ballroom floor in 2025 and appeared on the latest series of Strictly, where she was partnered with The Apprentice star Tom Skinner.
The star described taking part in the hit Channel 4 show as “such a treat”, adding: “Celebrity Gogglebox was fab-u-lous! I’m so used to being on my feet performing, it was such a treat to sit back, laugh, and react to all those brilliant shows. Of course, I loved being able to share those genuine, feel-good moments with Carlos and everyone watching at home.”
Carlos Gu's Excitement for the Show
Dowden will be joined on the sofa by her friend and fellow professional dancer Gu, and the pair are “so excited” to provide their “brutally honest” commentary on the latest TV shows. Gu said: “I had the best time – honestly, it was so much fun! I’m very expressive anyway, so you can imagine, I don’t hold back when I’m watching TV! Celebrity Gogglebox is all about emotion, humour and just enjoying yourself, and that’s exactly what I love. It felt like me and Amy were having our own little party on the sofa!”
The Chinese dancer has appeared on Strictly since 2022 and won the coveted glitterball trophy during the latest series alongside former professional footballer Karen Carney.
