Strictly Star Alexis Warr Splits from Husband of 8 Years

Strictly Come Dancing professional dancer Alexis Warr, 26, has announced her separation from husband Jake Burton after eight years of marriage. The American dancer, who joined the BBC show in 2025, shared the news with her followers in an Instagram story, apologizing for being "MIA" and describing the decision as mutual and respectful.

Childhood Sweethearts Part Ways

Warr, who married Burton in 2018 when they were still teenagers, said: "After much consideration and with the greatest respect for each other, Jake and I have made the decision to separate. Whilst this hasn't been an easy decision, it has been reached with a huge amount of love and we're each other's biggest cheerleaders." She added that the pair plan to navigate the rest of their "life change" in private.

Warr's Rise to Fame

Originally from Utah, Warr first gained recognition as the first Latin and ballroom dancer to win So You Think You Can Dance in 2022, during its seventeenth season. She dedicated her win to her mother, who had been battling brain cancer before making a "miraculous recovery." On the show, she said: "Every week I'm here is another week that I get to make my mamma happy. My mum and dad sacrificed a lot for me to dance, specifically financially, because they saw something in me that I didn't see. This journey has been a love letter to my mother, and I would love to seal that with a win."

Before Strictly, Warr worked as a dancer on America's Got Talent and joined the resident dance troupe on Dancing With The Stars. In 2024, she appeared in JoJo Siwa's music video for the hit track Karma. She joined Strictly Come Dancing in 2025 alongside fellow newcomer Julian Caillon and was paired with TikTok star George Clarke, finishing as runners-up in series 23.

Proud Wife Moments

Although Warr kept her relationship largely private, in November she publicly celebrated her husband after he passed his dental exams. She posted: "Proud wifey posttt. My man passed his dental school boards!! Couldn't be more grateful for his heart, his drive, and the way he supports and loves me through it all." Burton replied: "Couldn't do it without you. love you!" Fans reacted warmly, with one calling them a "power couple."
