Strictly Come Dancing judges Craig Revel Horwood and Anton Du Beke have revealed that they often strip off in front of each other in the dressing rooms during costume changes for the results show. The pair, who are close friends on and off screen, shared the backstage secret on their new podcast.
Unique working environment
Referring to their main job as judges, Anton said: “Of course we work together closely, and it is a very odd sort of thing.” Craig, 61, added: “We have to actually undress in front of one another. I mean, most people, when they go to the office, they don't take all their clothes off and put other clothes back on, do they, darling?”
Anton, 59, then added: “We do have quite a unique working environment. And an experience. Well, once you've seen Craig Revel Horwood in his underwear once, you've seen him a thousand times.”
First impressions not so good
The pair have now grown very close, which is a far cry from when they first met. In a previous episode of the Judgemental podcast, Craig admitted his first impressions of Anton were not so good. He said: “Well, I got to say, my first impression of you, I thought you were really, like, stuck-up. I thought you were, like, above your station.”
Craig added: “Ooh, look, he thinks he's the king of ballroom; look at him. And then I got to know you a little bit better, obviously. And I changed my mind because I loved what you did with Ann Widdecombe. I thought that was brilliant.”
Anton's acting ambitions
As well as being a dancer and TV judge, Anton says he wants to try his hand at acting on TV or film. Anton said: “The thing I would like to do is play a part in something, for a change. I generally just do me. Playing a character I would like to do that.”
Mocking the idea slightly, Craig said: “That is called acting darling. It might be a good idea to get a few acting lessons before you embark on a whole new career.” Anton added: “Well that is where you come in.” Craig is an actor on stage when he is not on Strictly and has played roles including Miss Hannigan in Annie and the Wicked Witch of the West in The Wizard of Oz.
