Strictly Come Dancing judges Anton Du Beke and Craig Revel Horwood have revealed the secrets of their close friendship, including that they often strip off and change clothes in front of each other. The pair, who return to judge the BBC juggernaut this autumn, have joined forces for a new podcast while gearing up for the latest series.
Unique Working Environment
Speaking about their backstage routine, Anton said: "Of course we work together closely, and it is a very odd sort of thing." Craig, 61, added: "We have to actually undress in front of one another." He noted that unlike most office workers, they remove all their clothes to change outfits. Anton, 59, remarked: "We do have quite a unique working environment, and an experience. Well, once you've seen Craig Revel Horwood in his underwear once, you've seen him a thousand times."
From Stuck-Up to Close Friends
The pair's strong bond developed over time, contrasting sharply with their initial impressions. On a previous episode of the Judgemental podcast, Craig confessed: "Well, I got to say, my first impression of you, I thought you were really, like, stuck-up. I thought you were, like, above your station." He added: "Ooh, look, he thinks he's the king of ballroom; look at him. And then I got to know you a little bit better, obviously. And I changed my mind because I loved what you did with Ann Widdecombe. I thought that was brilliant."
Anton's Acting Ambitions
Beyond dancing and judging, Anton has expressed interest in acting on television or film. He shared: "The thing I would like to do is play a part in something, for a change – I generally just do me. Playing a character I would like to do that." Craig teased him: "That is called acting darling. It might be a good idea to get a few acting lessons before you embark on a whole new career." Anton replied: "Well that is where you come in." Craig has stage acting experience, having played Miss Hannigan in Annie and the Wicked Witch of the West in The Wizard of Oz.
