Steve Fletcher, the horologist on The Repair Shop, has a life away from the workshop that includes five children, a long-term partner, and a famous sister. The BBC show, which began in 2017, features skilled craftspeople restoring cherished items.
Steve's Famous Sister
Steve is the brother of Suzie Fletcher, the show's leather expert. Suzie joined after her husband died from cancer, with Steve's encouragement. She said: "Every time [Steve] called he looked to be having such a good time I jokingly said, 'If they need anyone to do leather I'm your gal'. I really was joking, but after several phone calls and a lot of reassurance from Steve, I agreed to give it a go and joined the team. I'm so happy I did as this is one of the most enjoyable things I've ever been involved with and it's also helped me through some very dark days."
Steve's Partner, Mel
Steve is in a long-term relationship with Mel, and they live in Witney, Oxfordshire. Mel was instrumental in his joining The Repair Shop. He told the BBC: "In 2016, I received an email from a company that I hadn't heard of asking if I would be interested in taking part in a brand new show. Not trusting anything that is on the internet, I nearly deleted it and would have done if my partner, Mel, hadn't stopped me saying that it all looks OK."
Steve's Children
Steve has five children: son Fred and four daughters, including Amelia and Milly. Another daughter's name has not been shared publicly. Fred is a junior watchmaker who works with Steve and recently joined the cast of The Repair Shop. Amelia is a social media influencer with over 70,000 Instagram followers.
The family clock workshop was founded by Steve's grandfather, Fred, and passed to his father, John. Steve now runs it with his son, Fred. Talking about working together on the show, Steve said: "Fred came on board, he worked with me in my workshop anyway, and then during Covid, I was working on an extremely large wooden clock, and I needed help lifting things. Because it was Covid, other people couldn't come within two metres of each other, but Fred was in my bubble, so he could come on board and work side by side, and that's how we came to all work on the show."
