Police have shed new light on a car crash involving actors Alec and Stephen Baldwin, which took place on Monday 13 October in the Hamptons. The incident occurred when Alec Baldwin, driving his wife Hilaria's white Range Rover, struck a tree on the Montauk Highway amid rainy conditions.
East Hampton Town Police Chief Michael D. Sarlo said officers responded to the accident at approximately 12:01pm on State Route 27, Pantigo Road near Cross Highway. A 2023 Range Rover, operated by Alec Baldwin with Stephen Baldwin as a passenger, had hit a tree on the eastbound shoulder while avoiding the turning action of a 2020 Mack commercial truck registered to National Waste Services in Bay Shore, New York.
No injuries were reported, and no summonses were issued. Police identified the contributing factors as a reaction to an uninvolved vehicle and the slippery, wet roadway conditions. The truck's owner insisted the driver was not at fault.
In a video posted to Instagram, Alec Baldwin said he had swerved to avoid what he described as the largest rubbish truck he had ever seen. He also thanked police for their help. His wife Hilaria later reassured fans that both brothers were fine.
The actor was in the Hamptons for the Hamptons International Film Festival, which ran from 5 to 13 October. A source told Page Six that he had been there all week, attending films and moderating panels. Stephen Baldwin, father of Hailey Bieber, also escaped without injury.
