Stanley Tucci Says Spaghetti Bolognese Is Wrong, Offers Better Pastas
Stanley Tucci: Ditch Spaghetti for Bolognese, Use Rigatoni or Tagliatelle

Stanley Tucci has sparked debate by declaring that spaghetti bolognese is not authentic and that fans have been eating the dish wrong. The actor and food author appeared on Holly Willoughby's new show, Holly Willoughby Together, to cook Pasta alla Nerano.

Tucci's Pasta Pairing Advice

During the segment, Tucci explained that each pasta shape is meant for a specific sauce. When Holly noted that people often pick a shape and add any sauce, Tucci said: 'Ideally, you would not have spaghetti with bolognese.' He called 'spag bol' a British invention and claimed it 'doesn't exist' in Italy.

Recommended Alternatives

Tucci suggested rigatoni or tagliatelle as better matches for bolognese. 'Homemade tagliatelle holds the meat, and it's thicker,' he said, adding that the original bolognese 'didn't even have tomato.'
