Spencer Matthews: who loves more in marriage to Vogue Williams

Spencer Matthews has revealed he believes he loves his wife Vogue Williams more than she loves him, during a candid discussion on Katherine Ryan's podcast, What's My Age Again?. The former Made in Chelsea star also addressed the backlash surrounding his friend Jamie Laing's recent confession about trying to initiate intimacy with his wife Sophie Habboo shortly after she gave birth.

Asked about his own relationship, Spencer told Katherine: "We have a very healthy sex life. Not this week, of course." Katherine replied: "Good, because Jamie Laing nearly got cancelled for it." Spencer admitted he had been shocked by the headlines, saying: "I know, but what did he say exactly? I saw the headline and I was like, f****** hell, that's not great?"

Friendship and Marriage Insights

After Katherine asked whether the pair were friends again, Spencer confirmed: "We are. We had dinner the other night." He added: "Everyone's obsessed with our relationship. Not everyone, but lots of people are."

The conversation then turned to Spencer's marriage, with Katherine asking: "Who do you think loves the other one more?" Spencer replied: "I think I love her more than she loves me." Explaining his reasoning, he said: "Just my gut's two cents. I don't know. I'm more obvious with my love and affection for her."

Heartfelt Moment After Fourth Child

However, Spencer revealed that Vogue does occasionally surprise him with particularly heartfelt compliments, recalling a moment shortly after the arrival of their fourth child, Remy. "She will occasionally say things to me that I literally can't believe, that made me so happy," he said.

Spencer explained that the couple had shared a couple of glasses of champagne the day after Remy's birth, adding: "We were very loved up. Obviously, we just had our fourth child, and it feels like the family is complete." He revealed Vogue had praised him for being a good father and told him how fortunate she felt to have him.

"She was just saying really lovely stuff to me, which she doesn't do that often," Spencer admitted. "I'm not complaining about it either, but she wouldn't just pour admiration into me because I think she thinks I admire myself enough already." He added: "She was just saying lovely things about me being a great father and how she feels really lucky." Spencer continued: "It's kind of the type of stuff I feel like I say to her a lot; it doesn't always come back straight away."

Jamie Laing's Controversial Comments

His comments come after Jamie faced criticism over a conversation with Sophie on their NewlyParents podcast, during which he revealed he had "tried to initiate it a couple of weeks in" after the birth of their son, Ziggy. Sophie recalled explaining why she was not ready to resume sex, saying: "Firstly, I actually physically cannot. I have stitches all down over me down there. Secondly, I have to be signed off by the doctor." She claimed Jamie had replied: "Oh, that's bulls***. Always an excuse with you. You don't have to be signed off by the doctor."

The discussion prompted criticism online, with some viewers highlighting the importance of consent and allowing women time to recover after childbirth. Sophie later told Metro: "Jamie and I have always had a relationship based on equality and mutual respect." She added: "We don't want our comments to be misunderstood, and whilst they might have been delivered in a light-hearted couple conversation, as per the style of the podcast show, in no way should this be seen as making light of serious matters that do exist for many men and women." Sophie also revealed she had taken Jamie to her six-week check-up so their doctor could explain the guidance around having sex after giving birth.
