Spencer Matthews Reveals Stark Warning About Losing Family

Television personality Spencer Matthews has disclosed that he was given a harsh warning during his time at Alcoholics Anonymous, with a fellow member telling him that his wife could leave him and take their children. The 37-year-old, who shares three children with his wife Vogue Williams, recounted the experience on Matt Willis's On The Mend podcast.

Matthews, who previously struggled with alcohol dependency, described the encounter as an 'eye opener'. He recalled that the fellow AA member told him: 'If you carry on the way you're going all of that can go. Your wife can leave you, she'll take the kids. Your family will disown you...they'll turn their back on you and you will end up just like that.'

The former Made in Chelsea star also credited his wife Vogue for playing a key role in transforming his life, particularly when she became pregnant with their first child, Theodore. He admitted that during the early years of their relationship, he felt 'out of his depth' and was aware that his drinking habits could drive her away.

Matthews noted that while Vogue never gave him an ultimatum, he could sense her disappointment. The arrival of their son prompted him to reassess his drinking, as he realised that his behaviour was no longer shared fun but had become a solitary pursuit. 'It created this divide in the relationship,' he said, adding that it made him recognise his drinking habits were not normal.
