Louise Wener and Andy Maclure, members of the 1990s Britpop band Sleeper, have finally married after more than 30 years together. The couple, who have two children, tied the knot in Brighton, with the news confirmed on the band's official Instagram account.
The pair began their relationship while recording Sleeper's second album, The It Girl, released in May 1996. Despite the initial awkwardness, as Wener had previously been in a relationship with guitarist Jon Stewart, the band remained close friends. In a 2002 interview with The Guardian, Wener recalled the tensions but noted that they muddled through.
For their wedding, Wener wore a fitted animal-print outfit with cream ankle boots, while Maclure opted for a blazer, shirt, and trainers. After the ceremony, guests threw confetti as the couple headed to Brighton beach for photos. The Instagram post, captioned '30 years. You don't want to rush into these things,' received congratulations from fans and celebrities including Anita Rani and Miranda Sawyer.
Sleeper formed in the early 1990s, taking their name from a Woody Allen film. They achieved eight Top 40 hits and three UK top 10 albums, with their music appearing in the film Trainspotting. The band split in 1998 but reformed nine years ago for summer shows.
