Sienna Miller has opened up about the challenges of motherhood, revealing that she 'broke down' after an 'absolute disaster' of a flight with her children. The 44-year-old actress, who recently welcomed her third child with boyfriend Oli Green, 29, returned to work just three weeks after giving birth.
Return to Work and Motherhood Struggles
Miller, who already shares a two-year-old daughter with Oli and a 13-year-old daughter, Marlowe, with ex Tom Sturridge, has been in the US promoting her new film Jack Ryan: Ghost War. During an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, she shared candid details about her latest experiences as a mother.
'It feels like stringing sentences together is a bit challenging. I'm on very little sleep but I'm madly in love with my baby. It's crazy to be talking words and wearing a dress. What has happened from pyjama gate?' she said.
The 'Absolute Disaster' Flight
When asked which of her children is the hardest to look after, Miller described a recent transatlantic flight that turned into an ordeal. 'I would have said the teenage girl would be harder to juggle until the transatlantic flight I took yesterday with the toddler and the newborn. The toddler now wins hands down. It was an absolute disaster. There's no negotiating. I got to the immigration line and just broke down,' she recounted.
Earlier in May, Miller announced the birth of her third child, saying, 'It's happened. I have a tiny baby next door.'
Motherhood After 40
Miller has previously spoken about how having children after 40 has been easier than in her twenties. In an interview with Glamour Magazine, she said: 'Having had a baby at 29, and then having a baby at 42, and now 44, it's so much easier when you don't have the conflict of feeling scattered and like you want to be doing X, Y, Z. If I'm in bed at 9pm with a book, I'm so happy now. And now I've got the excuse to do it. Life is in a more grounded space. I think the 30s are chaos.'
She added: 'You're like, 'I want to settle down. I want kids.' By the time you hit 40, you're like, 'I know who I am and I don't really give a s*** about what anyone else thinks.' I'm a much more grounded human. We don't judge men who are having kids in their 80s. Why on earth is there any sort of narrative?'
Freezing Eggs and Future Plans
Miller has previously revealed that she froze her eggs at age 40 because she wanted a larger family. 'I'd invested what felt like the important years in something that was just a bucket with a hole in it of a person. I wasted time. And I felt like time was really my currency,' she told British Vogue in November 2022. 'There was a lot of anxiety. Relationships hadn't worked out. I imagined that I would be married with three kids, being a great mum.'
