The Siddiqui family, beloved stars of Channel 4's Gogglebox, have received an outpouring of support after celebrating father Sid's 81st birthday. The Derby-based family shared a sweet Instagram post featuring photographs from over the years, with the caption: 'Happy Birthday Day aka Sid. Wishing you the most wonderful day! We love you xxx.'
Fans and family members quickly flooded the comments with well wishes. Baasit's wife Mel, who married into the family, wrote: 'Happy birthday Sid AKA grandad. Have the best day!' One fan commented: 'Have a Wonderful Happy Birthday, may your day and year be filled with those you love, things that matter and above all joy.' Another added: 'Happy birthday lovely man, enjoy.'
The celebration comes after a difficult period for the family. In February 2025, they announced the death of their beloved cat Rufus after more than 15 years. Posting on Instagram, they wrote: 'Goodnight our beautiful boy Rufus. 15 and a half years wasn't long enough, you were and always will be a big part of our lives.'
Mel also shared a recap of 2025, including tributes to two cats that died, describing them as 'our two fur angels that left us this year.' Followers offered condolences, with one writing: 'Beautiful memories of 2025 here's to lots more in 2026 xx happy new year to you both and your beautiful family.'
The family, comprising Sid, his sons Umar, Raza and Baasit, have been Gogglebox favourites since the show's first series in 2013, known for their humorous commentary.
