Si King finds love again with 'very special lady'

Hairy Bikers star Si King has revealed he has found love with a new partner, describing his new girlfriend as "very special". The news comes two years after the death of his close friend and co-star Dave Myers, which left him feeling lost and considering cutting himself off from the world.

Finding happiness after loss

Speaking to The Sunday Times magazine, King said: "It's been wonderful and continues to be wonderful. And you know, I think the lads [his sons] are really happy, as is my ex-wife Jane, actually." He previously admitted he had considered 'riding into the sunset' as he wanted to be left alone and unreachable.

King was previously married to Jane Dodd, but the pair separated in 2016 after 27 years together. Their breakup was attributed to the demands of his career and his long absences. He has acknowledged he wasn't "present" for many years and that it affected his home life, even as his professional life flourished alongside Myers.

Life after Dave Myers

Dave Myers, who made up the Hairy Bikers duo with King, died aged 66 in February 2024 after being diagnosed with cancer two years earlier. He underwent chemotherapy and other treatment. Earlier this month, King admitted that grief is a "constant surprise" and he is still processing the loss.

King said he continues to work partly because he doesn't know what else to do during this period. He added: "I'm all right. I mean, look, it's challenging and I continue to work probably too hard, but I kind of don't know what else to do."

Processing grief

He previously told Lauren Laverne on BBC Radio 4's Desert Island Discs that he felt guilty for a year after Dave's death. He said: "The first year, I didn't want to do anything at all. I just didn't have it in me and then when I was shooting the show, I felt a sense of guilt that I was doing something that when he wasn't there. It was a very odd experience, because I was having to remember and deliver pieces to camera that I'd go 'ah you can do this'."
