The excitement is building in the Australian jungle as the first evictions for I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! draw near. In a show of family solidarity, Shona McGarty's sister, Camilla, arrived in the country on Tuesday, ready to cheer on the former EastEnders actress.
Family Support Arrives Down Under
Camilla McGarty, 33, was spotted making her way through an Australian airport after her long-haul flight from the UK. Her mission is to support her 34-year-old sister, Shona, who has survived almost two weeks in the challenging jungle environment. They are part of a wave of family and friends who have been flying in this week, poised to greet the celebrities on the show's famous bridge following their jungle ordeal.
Dressed casually for her travels, Camilla opted for a black and red baseball jacket, which she paired with a simple T-shirt and jeans.
Jungle Drama and Contraband Bust
The camp was rocked by a contraband scandal during Monday's episode, which left viewers utterly stunned. The drama began when former football star Alex Scott, 41, was found to have smuggled salt into the camp, leading to a group punishment where the campmates lost a star.
However, the plot thickened when Shona McGarty made a shocking confession of her own. She revealed she had also broken the strict rules by secretly bringing in a large bottle of air freshener to help combat the unpleasant smell of the camp's 'dunny' (outhouse).
Fans of the show took to social media platform X to express their disbelief, not only that both items were smuggled in but also at the sheer size of Shona's contraband. One viewer wrote, 'You gotta give it up to Shona for bringing in a massive bottle of air freshener, she wouldn't have got caught if it wasn't for Alex's salt.' Another commented, 'I was expecting Shona to show that she might have snuck in a packet of biscuits or something she actually brought in an air freshener.'
While the campmates appeared genuinely shocked by the revelations, some viewers at home were sceptical, suggesting the celebrities were feigning ignorance after having enjoyed Alex's secretly seasoned meals.
Stormy Weather Causes Chaos
The jungle antics weren't limited to rule-breaking. The camp was thrown into chaos when a severe thunderstorm forced production staff to evacuate all contestants to the Bush Telegraph hut for their safety.
A show source explained to the Daily Mail, ‘Our health and safety weather contingencies kicked in and we evacuated the celebrities immediately to the Bush Telegraph until the storm passed and it was safe to return to camp.’
The intense rain, which struck at 2pm Australian time (4am UK time), lasted for about an hour and delayed filming by three hours. This isn't the first weather-related issue; over the weekend, host Ant McPartlin, 50, nearly took a tumble on a slippery surface while presenting the live show under an umbrella with his co-host, Declan Donnelly.
With the first eliminations set to begin this weekend, the tension in camp is palpable. I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! continues Tuesday at 9pm on ITV1 and is available to stream on ITVX.
