Shona McGarty is heading into the I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! jungle with a nasty injury after a training accident. The former EastEnders star, best known for playing Whitney Dean, will join the series when it begins airing on 16 November.
McGarty shared her pre-show training on Instagram, including a video where she turned her local park into a makeshift training ground. In the clip, she slid down a slide and crashed into a park bench, letting out a loud grunt. She appeared wary and in pain for the rest of the video, which also featured attempts to jump through tyre swings and use a zip line.
Later, on Instagram Stories, she posted a picture of a large bruise on her waist, writing: 'And yes, the rumours are true. Sliding into a park bench does leave bruises. Prep for @imacelebrity they said. It'll be fun they said.' She also tried showering with an outside hose pipe, screaming as the cold water hit her hair.
McGarty joined EastEnders in 2008 as Bianca Jackson's adopted daughter and left in 2023 after 15 years. She told The Sun: 'I have decided to spread my wings and will be leaving EastEnders. I have loved my years in the show.' Since then, she has largely stayed out of the spotlight before signing up for I'm A Celebrity.
Ahead of the show, she posted a cryptic message on Instagram about embracing a new beginning, writing: 'I'm finally learning to just be me, no filters, no apologies... This is the start of really living, fully and authentically.'
