Shiloh Jolie Makes Unexpected K-pop Debut in Dayoung's Music Video

In a surprising crossover between Hollywood royalty and K-pop, Shiloh Jolie has been revealed as one of the backing dancers in South Korean singer Dayoung's upcoming music video. The 19-year-old daughter of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt appears briefly in a teaser for the single "What's a Girl to Do," set for release on Tuesday.

Open Audition Process Led to Unexpected Casting

According to Dayoung's label, Starship Entertainment, Jolie was selected through an open audition process in the United States. A company spokesperson explained to Maeil Business that several performers from a dance crew called Culture participated in the audition, with Shiloh making it through to the final round.

"We had no idea she was the child of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt," the spokesperson revealed. "Even after filming, we remained unaware of her famous parentage and only discovered this information quite recently by chance."

Visual Resemblance Sparks Online Reactions

The teaser shows Jolie with slicked-back hair, wearing a lacy brown top and hoop earrings as part of a choreographed dance sequence. Online reactions have focused heavily on her striking resemblance to her mother, with social media users comparing pictures of Angelina Jolie at age 19 with Shiloh's appearance in the video.

One X user commented: "Literally looks exactly like her momma, oh my god." Another observed: "Shiloh inherited Angelina Jolie's star power, because she appeared here for like a millisecond but got everyone talking about her."

Dayoung's Solo Career and Background

Dayoung, born Im Da young, is a South Korean singer and member of the K-pop girl group WJSN (Cosmic Girls), which debuted in 2016. She launched her solo career in 2025 with the single "Body" and has contributed to soundtracks for popular Korean television shows including Doctor Slump.

Shiloh's Evolving Career and Name Preference

This isn't Shiloh's first foray into the entertainment industry. After legally dropping Pitt from her surname when she turned 18 in 2024, she has been building her own creative portfolio. In June 2025, she attended the launch of fashion designer Isabel Marant's capsule collection with Net-A-Porter and choreographed the routine for musician Luella's single "Naïve."

Interestingly, in the press release for that project, she was listed as "Shi Joli" rather than her given name, Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt. A representative later clarified to The Independent that this was initially a typo, but confirmed that Shiloh prefers to be credited as Shi or Shi Jolie professionally.

Family Context and Surname Changes

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt share six children together:

  • Maddox, 24
  • Pax, 22
  • Zahara, 21
  • Shiloh, 19
  • Vivienne and Knox, both 17

The couple began their relationship in 2004 after meeting on the set of Mr & Mrs Smith, married in 2014, and announced their separation in 2016. Other family members have also appeared to distance themselves from the Pitt surname in recent years.

Vivienne was listed as Vivienne Jolie in the official program for the Broadway production The Outsiders, while Zahara introduced herself to her university sorority in 2023 as Zahara Marley Jolie, similarly omitting Pitt from her name.

The Independent has reached out to Starship Entertainment for additional comment regarding Shiloh Jolie's unexpected appearance in Dayoung's music video and the circumstances surrounding her casting through what the label describes as a standard audition process.
