Sheridan Smith Opens Up About James Corden Split and Gavin and Stacey Reunion Snub

Sheridan Smith has spoken candidly about her past relationship with James Corden, revealing the heartbreak behind their split and addressing her absence from the recent Gavin and Stacey reunion. The pair dated for two years after meeting on the set of the hit BBC comedy, where they played siblings.

Their relationship ended in 2008 amid rumours that Corden was pursuing singer Lily Allen. At the time, Corden admitted to making it his 'aim to make Lily mine', though nothing serious developed. The couple briefly reconciled in 2009, with Corden calling Smith the 'love of my life', but Smith later said she was not ready to settle down.

After their final split, Corden described feeling 'heartbroken' and 'lost', turning to heavy partying. He later met his wife, Julia Carey, in 2010 and they married in 2012. Smith, now starring in the BBC drama Four Lives, reflected on her younger self: 'I was a lot wilder back then. I wasn't someone who was in a frame of mind of settling down.'

Smith was notably absent from the 2019 Gavin and Stacey Christmas special, sparking speculation of a rift. However, she dismissed the drama, saying: 'I was only ever in 4 episodes. Why would they need to bring me back? There is no drama between me & James.' She added that she would hug Corden if they met and would 'definitely come back for a series'.
