Shania Twain has issued a playful ultimatum to Harry Styles after she was forced to miss Taylor Swift's wedding to Travis Kelce because of her commitment to perform as his opening act. The 60-year-old country star was one of the lucky celebrities invited to the wedding of her longtime friend Taylor Swift, 36, and Travis Kelce, also 36, on July 4 at New York's Madison Square Garden. However, Shania was unable to attend as she had already promised to open for Harry Styles during his record-breaking run of 12 sold-out shows at London's Wembley Stadium.
Shania's commitment to Harry's tour
Shania explained the date clash during an interview with CTV's eTalk show in America. She said: "Taylor Swift invited me to her wedding - and I couldn't go as I was already committed to Harry's shows. It's just kind of funny that it happened that way." The host noted the irony that Harry is one of Taylor's exes, asking: "Where you like, 'Sorry Taylor, I'm gonna choose Harry?'" Shania clarified: "No, I was already committed. I would have done anything to be at Taylor's wedding. That would have been really lovely for me to be there - but I was with Harry."
Playful ultimatum
Shania then joked about the situation, saying: "So that's why I'm saying that if Harry ever gets married and he wants me at his wedding then..." The presenter cut in: "So Harry's going to have to plan his wedding around your schedule?" Shania smiled as she replied: "He's going to have to ask me more in advance." When asked if she would sing at Harry's wedding if he wanted her to, she teased: "If I was available, I would."
Harry's tribute to Taylor
While neither Shania nor Harry could attend Taylor's wedding, Harry appeared to pay a sweet tribute to Taylor during his Wembley show. He performed the song "Two Ghosts," which is widely believed to be about Taylor. Fans were stunned, with one joking on X: "He wanted to be there to stop the wedding," and another saying: "Taylor said he was that guy who might interrupt her wedding... not quite close." This references a 2014 interview where Taylor spoke about her song "Style," widely believed to be about Harry. She said: "It's about those relationships that are never really done. You always kind of have that person, that one person who you feel might interrupt your wedding and be like, 'Don't do it cause we're not over yet'."
Future wedding invitations
It remains to be seen whether Taylor will receive an invitation to Harry's wedding to Zoë Kravitz, 37, the daughter of Lenny Kravitz and Lisa Bonet. Shania's lighthearted ultimatum suggests that if Harry wants her at his wedding, he will need to plan well in advance to avoid any scheduling conflicts.
