Patrick Grant, judge on The Great British Sewing Bee, has revealed that a contestant in the current series moved him and fellow judge Esme Young to tears, describing them as the best they have ever seen on the show.

Speaking on Wednesday's (July 22) episode of This Morning, Grant told presenters Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary about the sewers taking part in series 12. He admitted there was one person who brought both himself and Esme to tears, sharing that they did not know how amazing they were.
He added: "There is some real, real talent. Somebody this year, I think, is the best person we've ever seen."
New host Sophie Willan
Alongside Grant and Young, the series has introduced Sophie Willan as the new host, replacing Sara Pascoe. Willan, a comedian, writer and actor, took over after Pascoe left following three series.
Grant praised Willan, saying: "The incredible Sophie, who did the whole thing with most of a baby inside her. She was almost fully due at the end of the series and she just brought this amazing energy. I mean, I loved Alma's Not Normal, if anybody hasn't watched it, it's on the iPlayer and it's amazing. One of the best comedy creations we've ever seen. She's amazing and I've loved working with her."
Sophie's debut sketch
During her debut, Willan was seen preparing for a sketch. A producer told her: "Got the most amazing idea for the pre-title sketches. We're gonna dress you as a giant bobbin and roll you in." Another crew member added: "Ok, Sophie, standby! Don't forget, once you've introduced the challenge, head straight to the haberdashery to talk applique." Willan looked confused, before Young jokingly said: "Wing it. I've been winging it for years."
