Seth Meyers Rips Elon Musk's AI 'Odyssey' and Right's Reality

Seth Meyers took aim at Elon Musk and the right over their inconsequential attempts to bring down Christopher Nolan's hit adventure The Odyssey.

Woke is back?

On Late Night, Meyers said that with the second presidency of Donald Trump, it had been pushed that 'the era of woke was over', with those on the right gloating over what they felt was coming.

Ever since casting was announced for Nolan's big-budget epic, the right had dismissed it as a 'commie woke-fest' due to its diversity.

'How dare you cast popular actors in fictional roles in a movie adaptation of a poem written 2,700 years ago,' Meyers said.

Much of the anger was aimed at Oscar winner Lupita Nyong'o who had been cast as Helen of Troy, a character who 'hatched from an egg that was the result of Zeus turning into a swan who had sex with a goddess', or as Meyers joked 'white lady stuff'.

The host joked that Maga pundits had suddenly become 'poem cops'.

Box office success

But the right's favourite saying 'you go woke, you go broke' was once again proven wrong when The Odyssey opened to a massive $264m box office haul worldwide last weekend.

Meyers said it meant that 'woke is back' and also that the right's inability to predict a hit was because 'most of them haven't seen a movie in theatres since Fast and Furious'.

Musk's AI version

One of the film's most vocal critics was Elon Musk, the world's richest and 'weirdest' man who has now claimed he will make a 'historically accurate' version of the film with his AI tool Grok.

'I can't wait for that to suck,' Meyers said.

He also added: 'It's a myth! Are you also making a historically accurate version of The Santa Clause?'

Iran war claims

Meyers said the right were not to be trusted on film as 'they also said the Iran war would be a huge success' yet it was 'definitely not over' and was 'spiralling further out of control' despite what they might claim.

This week saw Trump asked by a journalist about Iran showing no signs that they are willing to stop fighting and he responded by asking if she knew something he didn't.

'I don't think he's being sarcastic, I think he's genuinely asking,' he said.

Many of them 'declared premature victory' but it's 'only getting worse', something that was raised by the Democratic senator Jon Ossoff this week. He asked the Pentagon chief, Pete Hegseth, why he would say on day 14 of the war that Iran's military had been destroyed when that's clearly not the case.

Hegseth avoided answering yet Ossoff kept repeating the question 'like the fucking Terminator'.

This angered Trump who used a 'very, very weird line of attack' at a rally in calling Ossoff Pinky Herman. 'Do you mean Peewee Herman?' Meyers said, before saying that the inside of Trump's brain 'looks like Peewee's Playhouse'.

He finished by saying the right 'live in a bubble' and 'an alternate reality'.
