Trewley-Precious Temple, the 26-year-old star of Channel 4's new reality show Secret Lives of Gypsy Wives, is no stranger to the spotlight. Known as one of Britain's biggest gypsy influencers, she has built a massive following on social media since she was 17, amassing over one million followers across TikTok and Instagram. Fans are drawn to her bubbly personality and hilarious videos offering glimpses into her everyday life in Essex.
From TikTok to Reality TV
Before landing her own show, Trewley appeared on the Channel 4 reality competition series Tempting Fortune in 2023. The show, hosted by Paddy McGuinness, follows contestants attempting to win a cash prize of up to £300,000 while surviving in the wilderness. Participants must resist temptations that would reduce the prize pot, such as spending money on food, accommodation, or skipping challenges. Trewley managed to walk away with £20,000.
Speaking to the Telegraph, she said: “I’m very rich in life, in the sense of, like, I’ve still got a home over my head, I still – thank God – have my siblings, I’ve got my mum, but I want them to be OK.” She added: “I don’t want my mum to worry. I don’t want my sisters working 10 hours at a dump to pay a phone bill. I don’t want that. I want to help them and keep them afloat.”
Promoting Her New Show
More recently, Trewley appeared on Good Morning Britain to promote Secret Lives of Gypsy Wives. During the interview, she opened up about the strict rules she must follow as a Traveller woman. “I'm not allowed piercings, I’m not allowed tattoos, I’m not allowed boyfriends without permission, I’m not allowed to go clubbing unless I’ve got a chaperone,” she said. She also revealed she has a curfew: “I have a curfew and I’m 26… it depends on who I’m with, what time I’d be home, if I’ve got a work event but it’s around half 10.”
Secret Lives of Gypsy Wives debuts on Channel 4 at 10pm on Monday, July 20. The show follows Trewley as she tries to build a career online while balancing the expectations of her traditional traveller family.
