Coronation Street star Sean Wilson has married his partner Carol in a stunning summer wedding. The actor, who played Martin Platt from 1985 to 2005, shared photos from their countryside wedding on Facebook, where he wore a dark blue suit and an orange waistcoat. The pair were seen kissing outside the church and smiling next to a vintage car.
Wedding details
The 61-year-old married his partner of seven years over the weekend. In his Facebook caption, Wilson seemed to hit out at those left off the guest list: "Guess what we did this weekend... A July wedding. Brought me my gorgeous Mrs Wilson. We had a Gospel choir. And a church full of legendary (real) friends. If we did it all again, it couldn't be better."
Comments were filled with well-wishes from fans. One said they were "wishing you both many many years of happiness" and another said they "hoped you had a beautiful day".
Background
The wedding comes over a year and a half after Wilson was supposed to reunite with onscreen wife Helen Worth on Coronation Street, as she departed the show on Christmas Day 2024. The storyline was scrapped after Wilson was hit with a sexual assault claim, which was later dropped with no further action taken against him.
Greater Manchester Police said at the time: "After consultation with senior detectives, the suspect in this case was released with no further action. The victim has been kept up to date and supported throughout the investigation. As in any case of this nature, any new information will be investigated. We take all allegations of sexual assault with the utmost of importance."
Describing what happened to the Sun, Wilson said: "My reputation was ruined in just eight minutes - my whole world blown apart. I had no idea who had made this complaint or anything about it but I lost my job." He described the experience as "hell," adding: "How do you tell your children that you've been wrongly accused of this?" ITV declined to comment when approached by the Sun.
When the Christmas 2024 episode aired, Gail left Weatherfield for France with her new husband Jesse Chadwick (John Thomson). Wilson revealed to the Daily Star that he did not watch the show. "I was away in Africa for Christmas," he said. "I'm trying to get back to normal. It's a case of taking each day at a time."
Since leaving the show, Wilson became a cheesemaker and launched his own cheese shop called Artisan Farm in 2009. He has also written a number of cookbooks.
