Sean Lock's 2014 Russell Brand rant resurfaces after conviction

A 2014 episode of 8 Out of 10 Cats featuring the late comedian Sean Lock criticising Russell Brand has resurfaced following Brand's conviction for rape and sexual assault.

Lock, who died in 2021, appeared on the panel show and voiced his dislike of Brand, accusing him of 'backpedalling' on his political views. Brand was later found guilty of one count of rape and three counts of sexual assault.

Lock's Criticism of Brand's Political Stance

Lock criticised Brand for changing his position on voting, saying: "He started out saying, 'Don't vote, it's stupid and pointless to vote, don't vote,' and now he's come out, Russell Brand, and said, 'No, what I'm saying is, actually, who am I supposed to vote for?'"

The comedian added: "So if you reduce that to what he's actually saying, it's what everybody says at every bus stop or newsagent: 'Huh, politicians, what are they like? How did that lot get in?'"

'The Most Moronic, Self-Serving, Pathetic Bit of Attention-Seeking'

Lock went on to say: "The main problem now is that people get the politicians they deserve, because they don't take any interest in politics."

He continued: "And [Brand] saying to people who are disaffected already, and aren't engaged with the political process, 'Don't vote', is the most moronic, self-serving, pathetic bit of attention-seeking w***."

Lock's Fatherly Concern

Lock explained his personal reason for disliking Brand, saying: "Probably the reason I hate him so much is that I'm a dad. And I've got this fear that one day my daughters will bring something like that home... and he'll come in and go, 'Oh, oh, such pleasure to be in your charming abode.'"

The clip has been shared widely on social media following Brand's conviction, with users noting Lock's earlier criticism of the former actor and podcaster.
