Geordie Shore personality Scotty T has publicly addressed his journey into fatherhood for the first time, attributing the birth of his son six months ago to a profound personal transformation. The reality television star, whose real name is Scott Timlin, faced a year-long driving ban and public scrutiny over a cocaine scandal, but now insists fatherhood has set him on a new path.
A New Chapter Begins
In an exclusive interview with The Sun, the 37-year-old confirmed he welcomed a baby boy with a Newcastle university student in August, with the news becoming public in October. He emotionally described his son as "the most important thing in my life" and stated that being a dad ensures he will "stay on the straight and narrow from now on."
Legal Troubles and Personal Redemption
Speaking approximately one year after receiving a twelve-month driving ban for two counts of driving under the influence of a controlled drug, Scott declared he has abstained from drugs since his arrest in October 2024. He characterized the conviction as "unlucky" while maintaining he never had a drug problem, though he acknowledged significant changes in his life since then.
"Becoming a dad is definitely a blessing," Scott revealed. "He's just changed everything. He's put a smile on my face. That's the most important thing in my life." He added that fatherhood has become his primary focus, stating: "I'll just live every day as it comes. I've already won, because I've had the baby, I've already got my legacy. And he's going to be mint."
Emotional Birth and Family Background
Sharing intimate details about his son's arrival, Scott admitted he "cried my eyes out" during the birth, describing it as "the maddest, most exciting, worrying time of my life." He clarified that the child's mother is someone he has known for nine years, dismissing reports that they met during a night out while he was "sofa surfing last year."
Their relationship has always been "casual," according to Scott, who insisted that despite his womanizing reputation on Geordie Shore, he has always been a "gentleman" toward her. He tearfully disclosed that the couple had previously experienced a pregnancy loss the year before their son was born, leaving them "devastated and gutted."
Health Challenges and Protective Instincts
The newborn faced medical complications including jaundice and low oxygen levels, requiring multiple hospital visits during his early days. "My heart sinks every time," Scott confessed. "I just want to do anything I can to make sure that nothing else goes wrong."
Privacy Concerns and Public Scrutiny
Scott explained his initial reluctance to share the news stemmed from fears that other women might falsely claim he fathered their children. Having been intimate with over a thousand people, this concern felt legitimate, especially given previous instances where individuals contacted his management with pregnancy claims.
He also worried the child's mother might be accused of "baby-trapping" him, which he vehemently denied, asserting both parents are "fully invested in being the best parents ever." Despite joking that he hopes his son becomes a "right t*** when he's older" to experience what he put his own parents through, Scott's commitment to responsible parenting appears genuine.
Substance Use and Career Consequences
While admitting he still enjoys partying and recently consumed an entire bottle of Jack Daniels during a public appearance, Scott emphasized he no longer uses drugs. His substance abuse issues became public in October 2024 when he was caught driving with 32 microgrammes of cocaine per litre of blood—triple the legal limit—along with excessive levels of BZE.
In February 2025, he pleaded guilty to two drug driving charges, receiving a £330 fine and the twelve-month ban that is now nearing its conclusion. This incident led to his dismissal from Geordie Shore once again, though he expressed understanding of the decision while hoping for a future return to the show.
Reflecting on Past Struggles
Scott traced his descent into substance abuse to the demands of his career, particularly paid public appearances at clubs where he turned to cocaine to maintain energy levels because caffeine exacerbated his anxiety. He recalled earning approximately £200,000 in a single month with a co-star through nightly personal appearances, describing how the money, adoring fans, and ease of the job kept him returning to that lifestyle.
He cited his ADHD as a contributing factor but primarily blamed the "lifestyle" of endless partying. "I felt like I was doing it because I was trying to escape from something, or I was just trying to be loved, and I was trying to get attention," he reflected. "Everyone would be like, 'he's just off the rails.' But it was more like, I just didn't know where to put myself."
Previous Rehabilitation Attempts
Scott first opened up about his drug battles in 2019, revealing that when he found fame on Geordie Shore's fourth series in 2012, he was regularly plied with alcohol and drugs during nights out. After seeking help at a Scottish rehabilitation center, he spiraled again following the deaths of his stepfather and three close friends.
The suicides of Love Island star Sophie Gradon and her boyfriend Aaron Armstrong in spring 2019 particularly affected him. "I was very close to both of them and that was really hard," he shared. "I was breaking up with my girlfriend, I was alone in my house and I was like 'why is everyone around us dying.' I got to such a low depressed point but I managed to pull myself out of it."
Looking Forward
As his driving ban approaches its end, Scott views fatherhood as his ultimate redemption. Despite his checkered past involving suspensions from Geordie Shore, rehab stints in Scotland and Thailand, and multiple controversies, he believes his son has provided the motivation for lasting change. While he acknowledges the driving incident was "just a silly thing and I paid the price," his focus remains firmly on building a stable future for his newborn child.
