Scarlett Moffatt: 'Hardest month' after two family deaths

Scarlett Moffatt has described the past month as the "hardest" of her life after losing her grandfather and her partner Scott Dobinson's mother, Janice, within weeks of each other.

The former Gogglebox star took to social media to share a heartfelt update with her followers, posting a series of pictures of herself and Scott over the years, including a recent snap with their son, Jude.

A heartbreaking update

"It's been the hardest month of our lives so grateful we have each other," Scarlett wrote. "I now understand that grief is really just love. It's all the love you still want to give, but no longer can."

She added: "I've known @scottdobby since I was 17, and I still can't quite believe the life we've built together. When grief arrives, it has a way of making you hold on to each other even tighter."

Finding joy amidst sadness

Despite the sorrow, Scarlett said they are finding "little pockets of joy," mostly thanks to Jude and her pregnancy bump, as well as looking at old photographs and memories.

The double loss came after Scarlett and Scott announced they are expecting their second child together. The couple shared the news with a photo of Jude holding a personalised newspaper with the headline: "Baby Dobinson another miracle coming soon!"

They wrote: "We honestly can't believe we're writing this... After everything, we feel unbelievably lucky to be able to say... our family is growing. One little miracle gave us Jude, and now he's going to be a big brother."

Scarlett had previously revealed the death of her grandfather, writing: "Unfortunately, more sad news for our family this week. My grandad Moffatt has sadly passed away. Me, Scott and all our family really appreciate all of the love and kindness you've shown us following the loss of Janice and now my grandad."

Days earlier, she had paid tribute to Janice on Instagram, saying: "My heart is broken for Scott and all of his family at the loss of his mam Janice. You were the best Nanna to Jude, the kindest mother-in-law and one of the loveliest people I've ever known. I'm so upset that you won't get to meet your second grandson, but I know you will be watching over us all."
