Reports that Sarah Ferguson had flown to Portugal to support her daughter, Princess Eugenie, following the birth of her fifth grandchild have been denied. According to the Daily Express, the former Duchess of York has not departed her undisclosed residence for several months and has not journeyed to Lisbon, where her granddaughter Adelaide Brooksbank was born on August 3.
Denial of Portugal Trip
It was extensively reported that Ms Ferguson had travelled to Portugal to meet Adelaide and spend time with her grandsons, August, 5, and Ernest Brooksbank, 3. However, sources cited by the Daily Express confirm this is not accurate. Ms Ferguson was last photographed in April at an upmarket ski resort in the Austrian Alps, though it remains unverified whether she is still there.
Discreet Presence Following Epstein Links
Ms Ferguson has maintained a discreet presence following harmful new revelations concerning her links to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. She has consistently refuted any misconduct. The Brooksbank family currently divides their time between the UK and Portugal, as Jack Brooksbank collaborates with property magnate Mike Meldman on the CostaTerra Golf and Ocean Club, an exclusive coastal project.
Royal Announcement of Adelaide's Birth
Buckingham Palace confirmed that Princess Eugenie delivered her daughter at a hospital in Lisbon. A Palace statement read: "Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie and Mr Jack Brooksbank are delighted to announce the safe arrival of their daughter, born on Monday, August 3, 2026, at 6.20pm, at a hospital in Lisbon, Portugal." The baby was born weighing 6 pounds 9 ounces. The statement added: "Their Majesties The King and Queen and other members of The Royal Family were delighted to be informed of the news."
Posting a photo of her daughter, Eugenie wrote: "Two weeks ago today we welcomed our girl to the world. And since then we've had the most special, cosy and love-filled time." She added: "We are so happy to share Adelaide Elizabeth Annina Brooksbank. Named after three people we love and admire past and present, including her great-grandmother who we hold close in our hearts. Her name is part of English and Portuguese history, two places we love and call home. Augie and Ernie are already the best big brothers."
