Sarah Ferguson lying low after UK return, spokesperson says

Sarah Ferguson is reportedly keeping a low profile after returning to the UK, according to her spokesperson, who also confirmed the current state of her relationship with her former husband, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.

Speaking to PEOPLE, the spokesperson said the 67-year-old is "resettling here, lying low while she looks at the next stage. She's happy spending time with her family and focusing on her relocation." The spokesperson added that she is embracing time spent with her family, including her grandchildren.

Relationship with Andrew

It remains unclear whether Ferguson has seen Andrew since her return to the UK after time in the Austrian Alps, though it has been reported that the two remain in contact. Andrew now lives on King Charles' Sandringham estate in Norfolk.

Describing their current relationship, the spokesperson said they have a "supportive relationship" as parents and grandparents, adding: "They have an ongoing cordial and supportive relationship as co-parents and co-grandparents."

Family and grandchildren

Ferguson and Andrew are parents to Princess Beatrice, 38, and Princess Eugenie, 36. They are grandparents to Beatrice's two daughters, Sienna, five, and Athena, one, as well as Eugenie's three children, August, five, Ernest, three, and three-month-old Adelaide. They are also step-grandparents to Beatrice's stepson, nine-year-old Wolfie.

Ferguson previously said she vowed to stay close to Andrew, a promise she made to the late Queen Elizabeth II, though the pair have experienced the downfall of their connection to the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Public appearances

Ferguson has retreated from public life as her past links to Epstein came under renewed scrutiny following the release of the Epstein files. She has not been accused of any wrongdoing in connection with the late financier. Andrew has also repeatedly denied any wrongdoing in connection with Epstein.

Last week, Ferguson made a rare public appearance alongside her two daughters in London, attending a memorial service for her former boyfriend and longtime friend Paddy McNally, who died in July at age 88. The appearance was her first since attending the Duchess of Kent's funeral in September 2025.

The former Duchess of York, who has written several books, was said to be looking to "forge an independent life." In images obtained by the Daily Mail, she appeared in good spirits, wearing a blue lace blazer, a matching skirt, and heels.
