Lanlan Yang, the 23-year-old woman accused of crashing a $1.5m Rolls-Royce SUV into a car driven by George Plassaras, a chauffeur for radio host Kyle Sandilands, has been granted extra time to decide on her plea after additional charges were laid.
Yang appeared at Downing Centre local court on Friday, where her solicitor John Korn requested a delay, stating the defence had only been notified of all charges this week. The court agreed, but ordered that a plea must be entered at the next mention.
Yang initially faced charges of causing bodily harm by misconduct and failing to submit to a breath test. She was later charged with dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm and failing to provide police with her details. A new charge of negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm has been added, while the initial misconduct charge has been withdrawn.
The crash occurred on 26 July in Sydney's eastern suburbs. Yang has been on bail for the initial charges, with conditions to report to the police station weekly. Her solicitor has been asked to lodge a formal application regarding bail conditions for the other charges.
The case has drawn significant media attention, with about 100 Chinese Australians attending her first court mention in August, and a dozen at her second mention earlier this month.
