Samuel West, the actor behind Siegfried Farnon in Channel 5's beloved period drama All Creatures Great and Small, took a break from filming the upcoming seventh series to mark a milestone birthday. The 60-year-old shared a behind-the-scenes glimpse of his special day on social media, revealing a custom-made cake that delighted fans.
Samuel West's Birthday Cake Features Miniature Siegfried
On June 20, 2026, West posted a photo of a cake decorated with a fondant version of his character Siegfried driving his vintage car through the Yorkshire Dales, complete with sheep and a stone gate. The cake also played music, which the actor described as "amazing." In his caption, he humorously noted that 60 has many factors, joking that it might explain why he feels "so divided."
West wrote: "Thanks for all my birthday wishes, good people. 60 has loads of factors - 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 10, 12, 15, 20, 30 and 60 - which might be why I feel so divided. #ACGAS gave me the day off and this amazing musical cake. The Travelcard is in the post."
Fans React to the Birthday Post
The post quickly garnered warm responses from fans. One commented: "Hope you had the most wonderful day!" Another wrote: "What a masterpiece of a cake. So special. Just for someone as special as you." A third fan joked: "Happy Birthday for yesterday. Isn't 60 the new 40! Hope you had a great day." When asked if the cast and crew enjoyed the cake, West replied: "We did, and it was DELICIOUS."
