Sam Thompson has been seen for the first time since his split from Zara McDermott, looking visibly downcast as he arrived at his London home on Thursday. The 32-year-old TV star wore a beige bomber jacket and dark trousers, appearing deep in thought with headphones on, and quickly entered his property to avoid drawing attention.
The couple, who had been together for five years, shared a home next to Sam's sister Louise Thompson and two cats, Cedric and Albus. Their breakup was confirmed earlier this week, with an insider telling MailOnline: 'Sam and Zara have ended their relationship. It's been an incredibly difficult decision for them to part ways, they still care and have a lot of love for each other.'
The pair spent Christmas and New Year apart. Sam celebrated New Year's Eve at London's Kensington Roof Gardens with former Made in Chelsea co-stars, while Zara stayed home with their cats. On Christmas Day, Sam volunteered for a charity, while Zara spent the holiday in Upminster, Essex, with her family.
Sam had also been away in Australia working on the I'm A Celebrity spin-off show Unpacked, while Zara was filming a BBC documentary. The insider added that time apart had taken its toll, despite efforts to salvage their romance, and both are now focusing on their individual careers.
Neither has publicly addressed the breakup, but Sam posted an optimistic New Year's message on Instagram, saying: 'New year! 2025 baby come on let's have it! I can't wait. The New year is going to be amazing.' Zara had previously expressed concerns about their relationship after her infidelity with music executive Brahim Fouradi in 2019 came to light. She apologised publicly, and Sam forgave her.
