Sam Thompson has described his year as 'uncomfortable' following his split from Zara McDermott. The former Made In Chelsea star, 32, admitted the difficult period has prompted a lifestyle change, saying a 'shock' can push someone into a new phase of life.
Appearing on best friend Pete Wicks' Man Made podcast, Thompson reflected on his reliance on others. 'I still look to people for help all the time,' he said. 'I have a lot of people who I depend on, but I feel like I'm not quite at the place where I can take care of myself.'
However, Thompson noted he is now depending more on himself after completing a 260-mile UNICEF challenge, which saw him transport the Soccer Aid ball from Stamford Bridge to Old Trafford by foot and bike, raising over £1.5 million. 'Putting yourself in uncomfortable situations and realising you can handle them... you need an uncomfortable year to change who you are,' he added.
Thompson and McDermott ended their five-year relationship at the start of 2025. While Thompson is reportedly single, McDermott has moved on with former One Direction singer Louis Tomlinson, recently seen wearing a gold 'L' initial necklace in a subtle nod to her new romance.
