Netflix has confirmed that House of Cards will return for one final eight-episode series, with Robin Wright taking the lead role. The decision follows the departure of Kevin Spacey amid sexual misconduct allegations, which had cast doubt on the show's future.
The announcement is seen as a practical move to safeguard the jobs of the thousands of crew members involved in production. Additionally, shifting the focus to Claire Underwood, played by Wright, may revitalise a series that many felt had lost its way after Frank Underwood achieved the presidency.
