Sacha Baron Cohen Praises Ex-Wife Isla Fisher in Birthday Tribute

Sacha Baron Cohen has publicly praised his ex-wife Isla Fisher in a rare statement marking her 50th birthday on 3 February. In a message shared on social media, the actor described Fisher as 'the funniest, most joyful person, a brilliant talent, and a fantastic mum', adding: 'May the next decade be even better.'

The couple, who had been in a relationship for over 20 years and married since 2010, announced their divorce in 2024 with a joint statement dressed in tennis gear, saying they had ended 'a long tennis match lasting over twenty years'. They emphasised they remained friends and were committed to co-parenting their three children.

Speaking about the separation, Fisher described it as 'a different grief' and 'a really challenging time'. In an interview with New Beauty magazine, she said: 'There's something about the divorce club that anyone in it understands in a way other people don't.' She added that creating a new identity after divorce had been 'so fun', allowing her to reflect on values and goals.

Fisher also told ELLE Decoration she had cried when her first furniture arrived at her new home, as it was her first time as a single woman in a home of her own. She said she and Baron Cohen remained 'committed and loving parents', modelling their split on her parents' 'very harmonious' divorce.

In a separate Instagram story last year, Fisher shared a post criticising marriage, writing: 'For all the men who say, "Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free?"... 80% of women are against marriage. Why? Because women realise it's not worth buying an entire pig just to get a little sausage.'
