Ruth Langsford has revealed the crucial role Rylan Clark played in supporting her after her sister Julia took her own life in 2019. In her new book, Feeling Fabulous, the Loose Women star describes receiving 'the worst phone call I have ever had' with the news of Julia's death at age 62.
At the time, Langsford's husband Eamonn Holmes was away in Belfast, leaving only her son Jack at home. Holmes contacted their close friend Rylan Clark and asked him to call Ruth and keep her talking while he arranged for friends to come over. Langsford writes: 'I don't remember much of that conversation with Rylan, but I just knew he was there and I will be forever grateful for that phone call.'
Friends Lucy and Louise soon arrived at her door late that night to console her. Langsford also pays tribute to her sister in the book, describing her as 'smart, creative and amazing' and noting she wears a bracelet every day that she gave Julia when she was her bridesmaid.
Rylan Clark receives further praise later in the book, where Langsford calls him 'a bit of a genius' and says she is an 'enthusiastic cheerleader' for younger presenters. She also offers advice on positivity, urging people to 'surround yourself with fabulous people' and avoid toxic influences.
