Rylan Clark and Mum Linda Turn Down Shows Due to Health

Rylan Clark and his mother Linda, who are set to appear on Celebrity Gogglebox on Friday, have turned down 'hundreds' of television show offers due to Linda's health struggles. The popular duo, known for their warm chemistry on the programme, have been in high demand since 2019.

Health Reasons Behind Refusals

Speaking to the Daily Star, Rylan explained that despite numerous opportunities, including a travel show, Linda's health prevents them from taking on more projects. 'We've been offered hundreds of things. We got asked to do a travel show and the chance to go here and go there. It would be hilarious, but she's just not well enough to do it,' he said.

Linda has been battling Crohn's disease, a long-term condition causing gut inflammation, and was diagnosed with skin cancer in October 2021. Rylan shared the news on his BBC Radio 2 show, stating, 'She's got skin cancer on her face, but she's absolutely fine. It's not life-threatening and it's just spread a little bit, so we're getting it all cut away.'

Comfort in Gogglebox

Rylan noted that Gogglebox is a comfortable fit for them because they film from his kitchen. 'Gogglebox is enough for us. She feels comfortable doing that show because we're just sat in my kitchen,' he added. Fans can also hear Linda on his BBC Radio 2 show 'Rylan on Saturday' and see her on his YouTube series 'Air Rylan'.

Light-Hearted Moments

During a recent radio exchange, Rylan revealed he tracks Linda's location on his phone after she unexpectedly showed up at his home while he had a guest. When she questioned this, Rylan asserted, 'I told you categorically that day, "Don't come round tomorrow morning, I'm not there", and what did you do?' Linda responded, 'Yeah, but you was there,' to which Rylan replied, 'Yeah exactly, with someone.'

Celebrity Gogglebox airs on Channel 4 at 9pm on Friday.
