Ryan Thomas has declared "it's finally happening" as he publicly showed his support for his actress daughter as she makes her first move into the music world.
Scarlett Thomas has followed in the footsteps of the actor and TV star for many years, pursuing an acting career and landing a role alongside her uncle, Ryan's brother Adam Thomas, in Waterloo Road.
However, Scarlett, who Ryan shares with his Coronation Street star ex Tina O'Brien, is also known for having quite the singing voice, and after featuring on her family's social media pages performing for her loved ones, the teenager has been sharing her own videos for months, leading up to launching her own music career.
Record Deal Announcement
Back in January, it was Ryan who confirmed that Scarlett had taken a big step in her blossoming career. The former soap star, who played Jason Grimshaw in Corrie, shared a picture of the pair on Instagram and said at the time: "Today is one of the best days of my life. Watching my little girl sign a record deal is a moment I will cherish forever."
"The stars were all aligned today. As we turned up at the restaurant to sign the deal Scarlett said, 'I’ve been here before dad!!' & then we found this video. Stood on the chair in front of all her family singing 'A Million Dreams ' & here we are 5 years later making her dream come true."
Debut Single 'ONESIES'
It was then on Wednesday (September 30) evening that Ryan was seen supporting Scarlett as the time officially arrived for her first music release. Alongside a photo of the pair taken at one of Harry Styles' Wembley gigs over the summer, Ryan wrote on Instagram: "It’s finally happening!!!! At midnight tonight, my daughter releases her very first single, 'ONESIES.'"
He continued: "Scarlett, I don’t think you’ll ever truly understand how proud I am of you. Watching you grow up, find your own voice and now have the courage to put something you’ve created out into the world is a moment I’ll never forget."
"I know this photo is us standing in a stadium watching somebody else perform… but I’m making you a promise: one day we’ll be back in a stadium like this, except it’ll be YOU down there singing your songs. And I’ll be somewhere in that crowd, crying the proudest tears imaginable."
The proud father added: "Whatever happens from here, enjoy every second of it. This is yours. Your first song. Your first release. The start of your own story. Scarlett Thomas, I love you more than you’ll ever know angel. ONESIES — MIDNIGHT TONIGHT."
Former Corrie co-star Lucy-Jo Hudson replied: "Yes mate this is awesome," while Chris Fountain, who also starred in the Salford-based soap and Hollyoaks, said: "Unreal! Buzzing for you @scarlettjthomas26."
