Ryan Thomas has been seen recalling a sweet memory of when he first met his fiancée, Lucy Mecklenburgh, as he shared an update on their relationship today.
How They Met
The Coronation Street actor and the former reality star met on the reality TV show Celebrity Island With Bear Grylls in 2017. Ryan, who played Corrie's Jason Grimshaw from 2000 to 2016, asked Lucy to marry him two years later while on a romantic holiday in Italy in 2019.
He popped the question to Lucy in the cliffside village of Positano in southern Italy's Amalfi Coast. At the time, Ryan shared photos of the pair embracing over an al fresco dinner for two, with idyllic views of the coast and he delightedly told his followers on Instagram: "Welcome to the family."
Family Life
Now, the couple are parents to two children, Roman, six, and Lilah, four, while Ryan also shares a teenage daughter, Scarlett, with his soap star ex Tina O'Brien.
As they continue to raise their sweet family, Ryan has taken to social media to speak about the couple taking time out for themselves during a recent sun-soaked family break on the Greek island of Crete.
Sunset Memory
Captioning a video of himself and Lucy cosying up and laughing as they watched a stunning sunset, the former soap star explained: "When we first met on Bear Grylls 10 years ago, one of our favourite things to do was sneak off down the beach to watch sunsets."
"Every holiday we’d find the best spot, and before the kids we’d even stay up to watch the sunrise with a bottle of champagne. These days im lucky to get her past midnight! [crying laughing emoji]."
"Those have always been some of my favourite memories with Luce. This holiday we discovered the hotel had a babysitting service, so we got to do our favourite thing again… find a beautiful restaurant, watch the sunset, and just be us for a few hours." He added: "I love my kids more than anything, but every now and then I love having Lucy Meck all to myself."
