Rhodri Giggs Defends Brother Ryan After Premier League Hall of Fame Snub

Rhodri Giggs has criticised the Premier League's decision to omit his brother Ryan from the 2025 Hall of Fame shortlist. The Premier League announced 15 nominees, from which two will be selected, but the Manchester United legend was not included.

Rhodri took to social media to voice his frustration, posting a montage of Ryan's highlights with the caption: '13 Premier League medals, countless goals, and the record number of Premier League assists. #TheShamHallOfFame.' He later told GB News that the affair with his ex-wife, which was exposed in 2011, is in the past and that he made around £1 million from it.

Ryan Giggs' omission is widely attributed to off-pitch scandals, including the eight-year affair with his brother's wife, an affair with model Imogen Thomas, and his arrest on suspicion of assault in 2020. He stepped down as Wales manager in 2022 and was cleared of assault charges in 2023 after his former partner withdrew from the trial.

Despite the snub, Giggs' on-pitch achievements remain unmatched. He holds the Premier League record for assists (162) and won 13 league titles with Manchester United. He also won four FA Cups, four League Cups, and two Champions League titles during his 963 appearances for the club.

The 2025 Hall of Fame shortlist includes former United teammates Patrice Evra, Teddy Sheringham, Gary Neville, Michael Carrick, Nemanja Vidic, Edwin van der Sar, and Michael Owen, alongside other Premier League greats. Fans can vote until 15 September, with the final decision made by the 24 current Hall of Famers.
