Ruth Langsford's Candid Confession on Marriage Breakdown and Healing Process
Ruth Langsford has provided a deeply personal account of her emotional struggles following her separation from Eamonn Holmes, revealing how the split led her to seek professional therapy and confront painful milestones. The television presenter described experiencing significant trauma after the breakdown of her 14-year marriage, which ended their 27-year relationship in 2024.
The Poignant Moment of Removing Her Wedding Ring
One of the most heartbreaking moments came when Langsford finally decided to remove her wedding ring, an action that left her "crying her eyes out" as she faced the reality of her situation. "I realised, 'Well, I'm not really... I'm not still married. I mean I am, but only on paper,'" she explained to Daily Mail Weekend Magazine.
Surrounded by supportive friends during this emotional transition, Langsford described it as a significant moment of acceptance. "It's one of those moments of acceptance. Wow. That's it. I'm not married any more. I'm getting divorced," she revealed. The following morning, she placed the ring in a drawer, confirming she had made the right decision.
Seeking Professional Help and Dealing with Trauma
The Loose Women star acknowledged that watching Holmes move on with his new partner, Katie Alexander, who is 22 years younger, prompted her to seek professional counseling. "Girlfriends are there for you come what may, but I needed a trained counsellor," Langsford admitted. "Someone who didn't know me, to help me see the way through all the darkness."
Langsford confessed to feeling completely blindsided by the marriage breakdown, having believed she was in a "very happy marriage" before the separation. "I just didn't think I'd find myself here, and I wasn't strong at the start," she said, describing her experience of broken heart and shattered dreams.
Moving Forward After the Split
Despite the emotional challenges, Langsford has adopted a forward-looking perspective on her situation. She acknowledged that her relationship with Holmes simply "didn't last" and emphasized the importance of focusing on the future rather than dwelling on the past.
The separation marked the end of what was once considered ITV's golden couple, stunning fans when announced in 2024. Prior to their split, Langsford had been acting as Holmes's caregiver as he battled numerous debilitating health issues. Following their separation, the GB News presenter moved out of their shared Surrey home.
Langsford's candid revelations provide insight into the complex emotional journey following a high-profile celebrity separation, highlighting both the painful moments of acceptance and the necessary steps toward healing and moving forward.
