Ruth Codd Recovering After Second Leg Amputation

Irish actor Ruth Codd, best known for her role in The Celebrity Traitors, has announced she is recovering from a second below-knee amputation. The 29-year-old shared the news in a TikTok video from her parents' house, revealing she had undergone the same operation on her left leg that she had on her right six years ago.

Codd's first amputation followed a football injury sustained as a teenager, which led to years of surgeries and chronic pain. In a recent interview, she explained that the use of crutches for eight years had destroyed the joints in her foot, leading to the decision to amputate.

In the video, Codd showed off her new wheelchair, which she has nicknamed “Fat Tony”, and joked about her situation. She also noted that she will need to wait at least a month for the limb to heal before she can be fitted with a prosthetic.

Codd gained popularity on TikTok during the pandemic, posting comedy sketches and raising disability awareness. She has appeared in Netflix series The Midnight Club and The Fall of the House of Usher, and was a contestant on the first series of The Celebrity Traitors earlier this year, where she was “murdered” after correctly identifying Jonathan Ross as a traitor.
