Rupert Everett Wore False Bum in Films After Struggling with Body Image

Rupert Everett has revealed that he wore a bodysuit with an enhanced bottom in films to disguise his physical insecurities. The 67-year-old actor, known for roles in My Best Friend's Wedding and An Ideal Husband, admitted that he struggled with body image from a young age.

In an interview with The Guardian, Everett said he felt awkward at 15 when he was only 5 feet tall, and later shot up to 6 feet 4, which made him feel 'skeletal'. He described his backside as 'like two bones and a hole' and his legs as 'skeletal'. To combat this, he commissioned drag queens to make him a bodysuit with padding for his bottom, calves, and shoulders.

Everett confirmed that he wore the bodysuit in all his films, unbeknownst to directors. He would attend costume fittings already wearing the padding. Now starring in the series Rivals, he says he no longer bothers with exercise, despite knowing it could help him live longer. He walks his dog but claims his past weightlifting without proper stretching has left him 'almost crippled'.

Last year, Everett volunteered at a local pub in Wiltshire to help save it from closure. He described the pub as a vital community hub in a rural village.
